Vision

Who we are
A professional movement built on a simple belief: the people closest to Africa’s classrooms should shape the future of education across the continent.
About Africa’s Educators
Africa’s Educators is a Pan-African professional community connecting classroom practitioners, school leaders, learning designers, policymakers and education partners.
We create spaces where educators develop relevant skills, exchange trusted practice and build relationships that cross schools, systems and borders. Our work is grounded in African contexts and strengthened by global knowledge.
As an initiative of STEAMLabs Africa, the community brings together professional learning, communities of practice, events, practical resources and opportunities for educators to lead.
Our purpose
To help every educator in Africa find the learning, community and agency they need to improve outcomes for every learner.

Our story
Africa’s Educators grew from STEAMLabs Africa’s work with teachers and school leaders across programmes in computing, artificial intelligence, digital learning and educational leadership.
Across every programme, one need remained constant: educators wanted a trusted place to continue the conversation after the workshop ended — to ask honest questions, share what worked and lead alongside peers who understood their realities.
This community is our response. It is designed to grow with its members and to ensure African experience does not sit at the edge of global education conversations, but helps lead them.

Mission
Strategic focus
Each area has its own programmes, communities and convenings, and they are designed to reinforce one another.
Practical, research-informed professional learning for educators and school leaders — workshops, webinars, cohorts, exchanges and fellowships.
Dialogue and insight on leadership, governance, policy, safeguarding and ethical practice, convened with school leaders and system partners.
Communities of practice connecting educators, schools, organisations and partners across national chapters and thematic networks.
What guides us
These commitments shape how we design learning, build relationships and serve our community.
We tell the truth about our practice — what worked, what did not, and what we are still working out.
We engage across difference, context and disagreement with dignity and curiosity.
We grow by building together, not by guarding what we know from one another.
We value useful learning that responds to context and improves what happens for learners.
We centre the expertise, experiences and aspirations of educators across the whole continent.
We cultivate spaces where educators are respected, heard and safe to contribute fully.
Stewardship
Africa’s Educators is convened by STEAMLabs Africa and shaped by an expanding network of practitioners and partners. Our governance model is developing to reflect the regions, roles and varied education contexts within our community.
Community voice
Member insight informs our learning priorities, convenings and resources.
Regional relevance
We design with — not simply for — the communities we serve.
Accountable partnership
Collaborations must create meaningful value for educators and learners.
